    DMR Hotspot

If you're at all interested in a DMR hotspot, go read this link put together by my friend Jarrod, KQ4TAY - https://jarrodandrews.com/construct-a-raspberry-pi-wpsd-hotspot/. And if you're still trying to figure out DMR, go read this link: https://manual.wpsd.radio/zero_hero/anytone_878/. I'll...

Icom 7100 mobile install in a Ford Bronco…

Made some improvements to my Wildtrax today. I’m a ham radio geek and have mounted a couple of radios in the truck, yet it’s super important that the truck not look like a radio wagon… you know the type, the one that rolls down the road with 17 antennas hanging off of every surface. You can...

So what’s with the idea of the “Bluffton Radio Club” anyway? (err, "RadioBum.com"...)

Yeah, I keep saying that I’m gonna double-down and get to know how DMR works. I have the Anytone and I like it well enough, but - man - the programming of that radio is a bear. I am using the RT systems software and started with Hubie’s code plug, but I need to customize it and make it mine.

Well, if you haven't figured it out... these forums are a list of my radios...

Yeah, for sure, I've got a compulsive "buy a new radio" thing going on here. I bought a Yaesu 991A a few years ago - just to try something new. I've had a FT-897 for years and liked it very much. I figured I'd like the 991A even more better. Sadly, I never grew to love that radio. It's very...

    Bought a Starlink Mini…

Spent more than I wanted to for the hardware - about $500, but selected the 50 gigs for $50/month plan. I can turn it on and off if needed but at $50 I’ll probably just keep it on unless I get stupid with consumption. My primary purpose was to bring the internet with me when I’m doing ham radio...

    A bit of frustrating start…

I’ve watched a lot of POTA videos and I see guys with really modest equipment/antennas setting up and, shazam, dozens of contacts in an hour or two. Yeah, that’s not happening for me. I’ve tried to activate a couple of parks four or five times and while I’ve made contacts, I’m definitely the...
